How to use this site
I have tried to make this site very easy to navigate, but I have some tips on how to use this site more efficiently
AND
you will
see more images.
On the left side of the page you find the navigation bar where you can choose different options. The bottom of the left side changes
changes with different choices. There can be latest news, different choices of portfolio images, or some
kinds of information.
If you choose a section, it is possible that on the bottom right in the grey bar you can find previous and/or next.
This means you can navigate to more pages through this section. (I am aware of one 'next' in the Travel/Tours section
which I haven't had time to fill yet.)
Now for the most important part, navigating through the images in the portfolio. If you click on porfolio
you will see different options in the block below. If you click on them you will see that some have even more sub choices, like
photos from different continents. If you are in a section with x images you will get a larger version if you click
on the image. You can choose to open and close every image, but you can also just scroll through the images by using your
arrow keys on your keyboard. If you do that, you will find out that every now and then, there are hidden images which
will only become visible if you browse like that. (it also works if you choose the play option, but I might quit using this
option.) Note: If you place your mouse off of the image, you will not see the options bar which sometimes
blocks an important part of the image.

Successful photo trips to Chile, Antarctica, Falklands and Florida
Why waiting at home for results of job applications while you can travel in the mean time? Exactly! Time to spare. I was
asked if I wanted to join a trip to Antarctica with National Geographic Explorer. I was just planning a trip to India, but
I figured this was a chance of a lifetime, so I said YES! And obviously, while being all the way down there an extension to
the Falkland islands was added. Together with a few more days in Chile and around Ushuaia a 4-week trip was planned.
I need only two words to describe this trip... AWE SOME. I witnessed and photographed beautiful sceneries, animals and birds.
But besides of that, we had extemely much FUN. I can't remember when I laughed that much in such a short time. Also, I made
a few real good friends on this trip. And... it's like a trip to Africa... can't wait to get back.
After I was offered my new job, I was asked by one of my new good friends from Antarctica to come to Florida to do some
bird photography. Florida has been on my 2GO wish list for years. Now was the time to go for the first time. During the
much too short stay of one week, we photographed in Fort Desoto, Little Blue Cypress lake and Gatorland.
These trips provided me with much work selecting and editing the 21 thousand images... I have reduced the Antarctica and
Florida images, but I still have to start with the Falklands and Chile.

Moved to Stanford, CA
You might have wondered why on Earth there were no updates on this new site... Obviously there is a perfectly good reason
for this. Besides that I did quite some traveling (see next item), I moved to the USA. In January I got the job offer I was
aiming on for Months. Since my PhD I have tried to get into the Fermi LAT collaboration. Fermi LAT is a Gamma-ray telescope
on board the Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope. After several attempts I got an offer to becom a postdoc at Stanford University.
A dream location. Stanford is located in sunny California, just 40 minutes south of San Francisco. Besides that Stanford is
one of the top universities in the world, it is located close to fantastic regions for nature photography. Therefore, I hope
that my stay here will be successful both scientifically as photographically.

New photo agency Buiten-Beeld
I finally signed a contract with a photo agency. I decided to go for
Buiten-Beeld.
Buiten-Beeld is a young and dynamic photo agency. I was asked to join this agency quite some time ago, but my PhD work
and conciderations what I really wanted with my photographic work delayed me in joining. I really like the personal approach of
this agency and it feels like a big photographic family. I haven't had the time to put a lot of photos into the archive, but
my collection will slowly grow. Hopefully, the images will sell eventually.
